Vintage Indian Ikat

Indian Ikat prints are a form of art using tie and dye techniques that employ resist dyeing on the yarns prior to dyeing and weaving the fabric. In India, these luxurious Ikat weaves were originally made in the state of Gujarat using fine silk yarns and many colors to create traditional sarees, the widespread women's garment in India.
The sarees for this collection were sourced and handpicked from vintage warehouses and back-alleys in the city of Jaipur. Little stains and imperfections in these vintage fabrics carry the love from a previous life with another woman.
I traveled to bring them to Jodhpur and hand them over to the women of our partner collective Saheli Women. This rural manufacturing studio focuses on women empowerment, skill training for livelihoods and a safe work environment and community for women of all castes. A lot of hard work from these ladies results in a very special collection, with one-of-a-kind garments that will certainly conquer a place in your heart.
